William S. Walter sent us an e-mail on November 17, 2009 and this is a portion of what he wrote:

“I graduated Hackensack High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1970 to 1976.  During that service I was in
Vietnam War zone from June 1972 to October 1972 on board the
USS Joseph Hewes DD1078.
 
          I am a lifetime member of the local VFW Post in the Milton section of Jefferson Township of Morris County N.J.”
          On the form, William S. Walter returned to us on
December 15, 2009, he lists his years at Hackensack High School from 1963 to 1966.  William’s rank was ‘Machinist Mate 2nd class Petty Officer’ and his Medals were Combat Action Ribbon (Medal),
Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Medal.
